Overdue Fines
Overdue fines are 10 cents per calendar day per book to a maximum fine of $50.00. There is a 7 day grace period during which no fines are charged for books; on the eighth day the fine is $.70. Borrowing privileges are suspended when books become overdue or when overdue fines for returned books exceed $5.00.
Graduate School of Journalism Faculty and Student Borrowing
Faculty and students with a current, validated Graduate School of Journalism ID card may borrow books for 21 days (3 weeks). On a case-by-case basis certain items will be loaned to faculty on a semester basis.

Reserve Material
Overdue reserve material incur a cost of $1.20 per hour.
Hold Recall
From time to time the library may recall an item that has been renewed past the initial 3-week loan period. If the item is not returned by the patron on the date specified, the patron will incur a fine of a $1.00 per day.
Lost Books
Lost books will incur replacement charges of $35 and a $10 processing fee.
Suspended Use
Borrowing privileges are suspended when books become overdue or when overdue fines for returned books exceed $5.00.
Other CUNY College Users
Graduate students, faculty and staff from other CUNY campuses may borrow books from the J-School library (14 day loan period). They must present a current, valid ID card from their home campus with a library barcode from their home library. As well, J-School students, faculty and staff may use their current, validated J-School ID with a library barcode, to borrow books from other CUNY libraries.
CUNY-Wide Courtesy Book Return
Under a CUNY-wide courtesy book return agreement, books borrowed from one CUNY library may be returned to any other CUNY library. The books are then shipped to their home library via an intercampus delivery system.
