The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism has awarded $10,000 scholarships to five students for their second and third semesters. The awards, made possible by a generous grant from Time Warner, Inc., are specifically intended for CUNY Journalism students. It is Time Warner's way of supporting the special mission of the School, announced Dean Stephen B. Shepard.
The students, to be called "Time, Inc. Scholars," are: Fritzie Andrade, Josh Cinelli, Erin O'Neill, Daniel Macht, and Dana Oliver. They were selected by the faculty and administration on the basis of their outstanding academic performance, leadership potential, and financial need.
"I can't begin to tell you how much this means to me,'' says Andrade, who finished at the top of her class in the first semester. "It removes a lot of stress from my life." Adds Oliver: "I am in shock...thank you so much."
The scholarships will also be available for members of next year's class.
