The mission of the Graduate School of Journalism Research Center is to support the Graduate School of Journalism by providing traditional and innovative information resources and services that support the school's curriculum. The Center has developed six goals to direct this mission.
- Goal 1: To develop a collection of resources, in a variety of formats, reflecting the impact emerging technologies have had on the field of journalism.
- Goal 2: To provide effective and quality bibliographic instruction in formal and informal settings.
- Goal 3: To make needed resources readily accessible in-house, as well as, virtually.
- Goal 4: To maintain a highly qualified staff capable of providing efficient and reliable service to support the Center's mission.
- Goal 5: Create a forward thinking, dynamic organization that is responsive and flexible in order to achieve its mission and goals.
- Goal 6: Continue the Center's effectiveness through systematic, ongoing outcome based assessment.
